Writers Need Community Too!!!

field

Any writers out there, whether you publish tomes annually, or scribble over breakfast! If you are writing and would like to be connected to other writers then you should take a look at WBA (Writers Blog Alliance).

This is a site one may join for free, and it helps to plug writers into the greater community of writers out there that you would probably love to meet, if only there was a way.

I am not a member yet, but that is my next order of business today.

But since we are discussing community, and the writer’s need for it, I am led to think about writers of the 19th Century who fled the newly industrialized cities for the quieter environs of the countryside.

These folks would walk for two hours just to post a letter, then walk home again, all the time walking through forests and nature. It is no wonder to me that there was a revived love of nature in the poetry of this time period. The writers communed with nature in a way that we don’t do anymore. A four hour hike isn’t a normal part of our day anymore, it is exceptional.

I think that most of us, jeez, I am trying to do away with wide brush strokes like that one. Okay, try again.

I think that I could learn a lesson from these folks who knew how to take life slowly. And there are still many people who do. My friend Jer is the slowest walker I have ever met. His two year old is way faster than him. He saunters along, knowing that his destination isn’t going to disappear. He has time. No rush, What’s the hurry.

I walk freaking fast. I am very tall, and have long legs, but even so, I am a fast walker. I think I get caught up in the idea of being there that I forgo any of the value in getting there. I should like to reverse this trend.

Sure, the WBA is well worth joining for any writer, especially one who blogs. The links are the thing. When the new site comes up soon, it will take on more energy. So join now.
