Lit Bits, Volume 2

It’s Newsday Tuesday! Enjoy these literature tidbits.

Laurence Sterne’s oddball novel, Tristram Shandy, has been made into a movie. So what if it’s unfilmable? Nothing can stop Hollywood from butchering great literature. I’m glad I wasn’t an author back then, though…what with all the digging up of your dead body and selling you for dissection.

Wonkette wrote a novel.

Hell yeah, SparkNotes is worthwhile. I send my students there all the time.

Ursula le Guin says that J.K. Rowling lacks originality and graciousness.

Ever wondered what inspired Kipling? One man thinks he knows.

Apparently, publishers suck at math. And don’t really know much about their field.

I want my own book room!

Everybody’s blogging.

Almost as cool as a time machine.

Wanna buy Uncle Tom’s Cabin? Not the book. The actual cabin.

The kids are all right.

Thanks for those lit bits. I’ve been quite distracted reading them all. ;-)

Thanks heather! I love distracting people, since I’m usually in that stae myself. Sigh. A Journal writing blog sure would distract me…
